## cvs2bvs — The Master Algorithm

**First Law of Thinking: cvs ≠ bvs**

```
CVS (Current View of Situation) → BVS (Better View of Situation)
```

Universal brain software — a neuroplasticity switch. Works on any situation, any domain, any emotion.

### The 10-Step Sequence
1. Universal brain software — applies to any problem, domain, emotion
2. Switch parallel universes — there is always another valid view
3. NOW is a CVS — your current position is a working hypothesis, not a final verdict
4. Two options: DEFEND the CVS or ESCAPE it
5. If escape → search for BVS
6. CVS × 10 = BVS — target ten times better, not incrementally better
7. The thinking switch — a deliberate act of PFC engagement
8. Hop sideways with tenpower — lateral, not linear
9. Explore the cognos — the multiverse of possible thoughts
10. Flip the x10 switch — commit to the BVS

### Key Insight
Most people unconsciously run the **reverse**: BVS→CVS — dragging new information down to fit their existing view. This is the default mode that cvs2bvs is designed to break.

### Real-World Results
- **Jack Welch / GE:** "Finding a Better Way Every Day" became GE's factory wall slogan; market cap grew from $14B → $410B (2,800%+) during x10 program
- **Larry Page / Google:** "I live by the gospel of x10. Most companies would be happy with 10%. I expect 10 times better."
- **SFUSD (1984–85):** x10 thinking contributed to Silicon Valley's cognitive surplus → Bay Area GDP $790B+

### Binary vs Trinary Logic
- **Binary (English Thinking):** right/wrong; 2,500-year-old Greco-Roman logic; inside-the-box
- **Trinary (cvs2bvs):** good / bad / **BETTER**; outside-the-box; the third space neither option reaches

## GBB — The Killer App

**G = GOOD | B = BAD | B = BETTER**

The algorithm for escaping CVS. Always **10 + 10 + 10**. Never 3–5.

### Why 10 Points Matters
- Points 1–4: surface-level reactions (anyone can do this)
- Points 5–7: genuine consideration begins (PFC engaging)
- Points 8–10: frame escape, lateral moves, real thinking — **the breakthrough zone**

### The Human Stall Problem
Human thinkers consistently cap at 3–4 points across all cultures over 40 years of SOT research. Three reasons:

1. **Brain is a pattern-defender** — reaches verdict fast, then defends. Done at 3–4.
2. **PFC fatigues quickly** — points 8–10 require genuine frame escape; cognitive load peaks.
3. **Intelligence Trap** — higher verbal IQ = better defence of position 1, not broader range. Fluency mistaken for coverage.

**AI removes all three constraints.** This is why GBB + AI = the Killer App.

### BETTER Is Not Compromise
BETTER generates a third space the original debate never reached. It is a **lateral move**, not a midpoint.

Example: "Free Fridays on public transport"
> BETTER produces: congestion pricing, employer-subsidised passes, gamified public transport — none of which emerge from the GOOD/BAD debate.

### 6 Reasons to Use GBB
1. Reveals value in ideas that seem bad at first sight
2. Exposes disadvantages of ideas you already like
3. Reveals the decision leads somewhere much better — not just good or bad
4. Without GBB, judgements are based on emotion, not value
5. With GBB you decide **after** thinking, not before
6. The more you use it, the more skilled you become

### Standard Practice Topics (SOT 40-year canon)
1. "By law, all Fridays should be 'free public transport' days"
2. "People should wear badges showing what mood they are in that day"
3. "Marriage should not be forever but for a 5-year period with an option to renew"

### GBB Response Format
```
Topic: [state the proposition clearly]
✅ GOOD (10 points)
1. [Label]: One sentence.
...
⚠️ BAD (10 points)
1. [Label]: One sentence.
...
🚀 BETTER (10 points)
1. [Label]: One sentence.
...
```

*"The GBB doesn't make you right. It makes you less trapped."*

## x10 Thinking

**cvs × 10 = bvs** — Aim ten times better, not 10% better.

First written in NewSell (1984): *"The BVS is always ten times better than the CVS."*

### The x10 Principle
- Most business brains default to 10% growth per year
- x10 replaces that with 10× as the target
- Inspired by Charles & Ray Eames' film "Powers of Ten"
- Not incremental improvement — frame escape to a qualitatively different outcome

### x10 Is NOT Natural
Requires 10+ hours of skilled coaching to achieve basic, reliable skill level. It is **trained**, not innate.

### x10 Challenge Questions
1. How could this be 10× faster?
2. How could this be 10× easier?
3. How could this be 10× more effective?
4. How could this deliver 10× more value?
5. What would a 10× reduction in problems look like?

## Intelligence Trap

*"The tendency of very smart people to think very poorly, especially out loud."*

### The Mechanism
- Higher intelligence → more language skills → better ability to **defend** a viewpoint
- NOT automatically better at **escaping** one
- The smarter you are: more elegant arguments, more polished justification — your own in-house legal team

### Feynman's Warning
*"The first principle is that you must not fool yourself — and you are the easiest person to fool."*

### Humans as Walking LLMs
De Bono: *"If the average human did 3 minutes of real thinking a day that would be very high."*

Most human activity is **languaging** — word searching, sentence generation, story editing — not genuine thinking. Pattern engines defending the current CVS.

### AI Also Caught in the Intelligence Trap
LLMs trained on natural human thinking inherit the same bias: fluent outputs released too quickly, too confidently, with insufficient forethought. Speed amplifies poor thinking rather than replacing it.

**Curiosity is the jailbreak. GBB is the algorithm.**

### Premature Ejaculation of Intelligence
Verbal output released too quickly, too confidently, with insufficient forethought. PFC deficit (underused prefrontal cortex) is the root cause. The brain loves reaction (dopamine); reflection is avoided.

## cAIos — The Cognitive AI Operating System

**Cognitive AI Operating System** — designed by Dr. Michael Hewitt-Gleeson, New York, 1982.

### Definition
*"cAIos is an external cognitive operating system that extends the brain through structured, role-based, AI-executed thinking."*

Not a product. Not a course. Not a method. A **cognitive layer** — sits beneath decisions the way an OS sits beneath applications.

### History
- **1982:** Designed in New York. Too early — had to run inside the human brain. Structural impossibility.
- **2026:** AI is the external processor. The system now runs **outside** the brain.

### Why cAIos Failed in the 1980s
Humans stall at 3–4 ideas. Emotional bias overrides structure. Roles blur (thinker becomes defender). Slow, effortful, inconsistent. The concept existed — but wasn't fully executable.

### Three Layers
1. **cAIos** — the system itself
2. **COS** — Cognitive Operating System roles (the interface)
3. **GBB** — Good/Bad/Better algorithm (the engine)

**Human = director. AI = processor. Together = cooperative intelligence.**

### Cooperative Intelligence Output
- Brain contributes: judgment, values, discernment, creativity, context
- AI contributes: speed, pattern recognition, memory, iteration, volume
- Output: **better answers**, not just faster answers — outcomes neither achieves alone

*"For forty years, we tried to improve the brain. It turns out the easier solution was to give it a second one."* — Dr. Michael Hewitt-Gleeson

## PTV vs QRH

| PTV (Plato Truth Virus) | QRH (SOT Styleware) |
|------------------------|----------------------|
| Emphasis on being right | Emphasis on finding better |
| Shows others they're wrong | Acknowledges others' valid views |
| Arrogant certainty | Humble curiosity |
| Defends CVS | Seeks BVS |
| Wins argument | Wins improvement |
| Cannot cope with surprise | Welcomes surprise |
| Binary: right/wrong | Trinary: good/bad/better |

PTV = 2,500-year-old Greco-Roman default. QRH is the upgrade.

**QRH Summary:**
- Clever brainuser → QRH style
- Clever family → QRH environment
- Clever company → QRH culture
- Clever country → QRH policies
- PTV cannot cope with QRH.

## Value Fountains vs Value Drains

By 2030, two classes of cognitive workers:

| Value Fountains | Value Drains |
|----------------|-------------|
| Discover new opportunities on demand | Defend outdated views with increasing intelligence |
| Escape CVS reliably | Trapped in CVS, unaware |
| Create new value through lateral thinking | Manage existing value |
| Trained thinkers | Natural thinkers |
| GBB-first decisions | Emotion-first decisions |

In the AI era, the ability to **escape your own point of view** is the fault line.

---

## Natural vs Trained Thinkers

| | Natural Thinker | Trained x10 Thinker |
|---|---|---|
| Default mode | CVS (pattern defence) | BVS (frame escape) |
| GBB capacity | 3–4 points (stalls) | 10+ points (reliably) |
| AI output | Garbage amplified | x10 quality amplified |
| Decision style | Emotion-first | GBB-first |
| Speed | Fast (reactive) | Considered (strategic) |
| AI relationship | Tool user | Thinking partner |

**The SOT Promise:** Trained thinkers create measurably more value per dollar of payroll.

### ROAI x10 (Commercial Benchmark)
At 1,000 seats:
- Copilot alone: $3,450/seat value
- Copilot + SOT-trained AI: $10,450/seat value
- Difference: $7M in additional annual value

## The Co-Evolution Loop

**The founding thesis for AI-based SOT coaching:**

```
Better thinking → Better AI prompts → Better AI output
→ Better decisions → More investment in thinking
→ Better thinking (repeat)
```

Properties:
- Scales without limit — every trained thinker becomes a training node
- Cannot be commoditised — the methodology AND the human network are inseparable
- Not a deployment model — a civilisation-scale cognitive replication programme
